As anticipations run sky high for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Night, I thought it would be behoovy to remind y'all that he will never top a previous Batman franchise. I speak not of the Tim Burton movies nor of the fabulously atrocious Joel Schumacher flicks, but, of course, the Adam West starring TV series. What it lacked in depth and characterization, it more than made up for in b-level celebrity cameos and latent homo-eroticism. More than anything, however, it gave the world the batusi. And for that we will be forever grateful.

I'm really hoping that we reach a day where we are a sophisticated enough race that a man can walk into a party dressed in a bat suit and order an orange juice and no one bats an eye. Of course I'm talking hundreds of years from now. But one day, maybe.

I would pay a hundred dollars to watch Christian Bale pop-lockin', doing the robot, and pulling off the patented two fingers across the eye Adam West move.
These clips are awesome! I grew up on the Batman TV series, I have three brothers, and they ruled the TV. I'm grateful though, such a fun series, and now, fun films. Can't wait to see The Dark Knight tomorrow. A little slow dancing with Bruce Wayne would be just fine for me *sigh*. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
I have a friend who believes with all his heart, Batman will always be Adam West.
And watching these dance moves, after all these years, I see he is right.
You know, what's going with the revamping of Batman right now is remarkably similiar to what's going on with the revamping of the James Bond movies.
Characters previously seen in the mainstream as being frivolous, juvenile or escapist are now being portrayed in a much more serious, darker and, ultimately, morally comprimised manner.
It's like the post 9-11 world has finally reached the inner sanctum of the worlds of James Bond and Batman.
